R-12 highside

Bulldog Steve on Wed August 15, 2007 10:32 AM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 1990
Make: Chevy
Model: Corvette
Engine Size: 350
Refrigerant Type: R-12
Ambient Temp: 0
Pressure Low: 0
Pressure High: 0
Country of Origin: United States

I need the adp. for the high for my R-12 hose line to connect to the port on the car and i am confused to what i need.
Can you guys lead me in the right direction.

And also if i use my R-12 for R-134 do i need to flush it out when going to a diff. gas? Or is this a bad idea i see that i can buy R-134 fitings to go on my R-12 hoses.

Thanks again for all the help you guys give.

Steve

Most likely will need this adapter if you high side port is smaller than your R12 high service hose.

Minimum requirements for converting a system to R134a.

I would not convert this vehicle to R134a. But if you do these couplers will convert your R12 gauges to work with R134a service port fittings.

The main issue with switching a gauge set between different refrigerants is that R-12 should never touch PAG oil. It's not that it's going to blow up in your face but a chemical reaction will occur creating acid and sludge that can lead to system damage.

Thanks Tim,
Yes highside is smaller.
No i dont plan on going to R-134 in my Vette it is a bottom feeder and it does not like that from what i hear!
So if i use my gage set on wife car (which you guys helped me fix and parts from you tim at AMA) do i have to worry about cleaning them between. Cause i know they dont mix well.
