I have a 96 S10 that last spring I put a new AC Delco compressor, new office tube,, and accumulater, flushed system, all new o rings. Held perfect vacume overnight, and charged. Everything was great vent temp on 85+ deg days @39deg.Worked fine untill about a week ago,I noticed the compresser was making noise. Checked with gauges idle is low 65 high 220. @ 2000 rpm low 51 high 250, and at the 2000 rpm the vent temp never goes below 58 deg. I added a little r134a thinking it may be low,it didnt change anything. Any Ideas?
I would suggest recovering the refrigerant, pulling the O tube to inspect it, and go from there..Not to much goes wrong with the V5 compressor your truck uses, but they do leak, and really can't tell from the pressures since the compressor strokes and de-strokes to compensate. No sense trying to weigh the charge in there, since you've added some.. So start fresh, add an ounce of PAG 150 oil and recharge the system amount into a deep vacuum with some UV dye.. Only other problem would be the refrigerant control valve, but your pressures don't really indicate a control valve problem.. Hope this helps..

If the O tube dont look to bad do I have to replace the accumulater too? Its 1 year old. Thanks.
No, just don't keep the system open any longer than necessary..Recharge with some UV dye and an ounce of oil and see how it does..You have to have the exact charge in before diagnosing..Hope this helps..

Check the hose just under the compressor...these units are a primary source for leakage.

Iceman you are right. I looked at the hose under the compressor, and sure enough its beem leaking oil. I got a new hose, and o tube,do I need to change the accumulater too? Not knowing how much oil leaked out how much should I put back in?
Should the accumulator be replaced.....been in service for app 6 mos........that is a tough call.....if a replacement is located that does not cost an arm and a leg....go for it...however, this is not a warranty issue with the accumulator and it would be far from the right thing to do to return it as defective. Probably be acceptable to keep this one...esp if the lubricant is clean and displays no significant evidence of contamination (dark color or serious odors).
How much lube is loss with this hose leak.....impossible to tell.....add a couple oz of lube. The system is designed to handle a small amount of lubricant overcharge.
Be sure to get it charged completely.
Good luck!!!!!!
