tim,purchased a thermostat from you guys to cycle my compressor,can you tell me the amp or load max on it? seems like it does not handle the load of the clutch,need to use a relay?

the part # is 3122 its the preset thermostat.. part # could be 32-20901... two #'s on here..
if it does not require a relay and it can handle the amp load,then its defective.. the coil went up in smoke after 143 miles of driving. if it needs a relay to handle the load, I did'nt know and did not think to ask. it worked great untill it went up in smoke..

We run them all the time without a relay using the Seltec compressor. But you should only have a few amps max drawing through that thermostat. If you have a heavier load I suggest running it through a relay.

I'll test the draw with a inductive amp probe on thursday,let you know.. is there any warranty on the thermo?

If it was a defective item we will warranty it. If it was damaged do to too many amps then it was not a defective item to begin with.

Tim, I checked the current draw on the clutch circuit today,it's 4.36 amps,@ 14.23 volts @ 2000
rpm's,looks like its in spec's, the switch has to be defective.. had to repair the car today,the idler pulley siezed up and threw the drive belt,did make it home thou..
