Topping off oil, ok to mix brands

Travis on Thu January 24, 2008 4:38 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 96
Make: Mustang
Model: Cobra
Engine Size: 281
Refrigerant Type: 134

I'm gearing up for a condensor and drier change on my Cobra (to a less restrictive model, there was a TSB for this). Will it be ok to add BVA-100 per the service manual, or should I get oil right from Ford? I'm not flushing the system, I'm just removing and replacing the condensor and drier.

Thanks
Travis

I would use PAG 46 viscosity, BVA is an excellent oil, but I really don't like "mixing" oils. You have factory PAG 46, stick with it on a top off. Just my opinion though...Hope this helps..
PS: No need for "FORD" oil, just PAG 46 viscosity...
