Ok, i was able to convince Autozone (yes still dealing with them about my original compressor 6 months later...not by choice) to swap out compressors again on my Golf. Ice, i played around with the RCV on the old compressor, with the o-ring, without the o-ring, used a bolt etc... and nothing seemed to phase the readings from static (clearly it looks like the compressor is shot) However, I started pulling things apart on it, and cannot find anything that jumps out at me. The clutch engages, the pistons all move and the oil is as clean as it was the day i added it. At this point like I said, everything points to the compressor. When i put the compressor on the bench and turn the shaft, with my fingers over the holes, i get no suction what so ever (not sure if that means anything or not). So where does that take me now? Ill tell you and this is where i need feedback... I managed to get autozone to swap compressors under warranty...(and for some strange reason they didn't want the old one back...oh well, it is not my job to get involved in their dealings, so Ice, or Tim, if you want a compressor to play around with, let me know and I will send it your way). Not to drag this out anymore, I am hoping this is the last time I deal with this a/c. I pulled the expansion valve, drier, and compressor, and am in the process of flushing the the condenser and evaporator. I rigged up some hoses to the ends of each and have poured about 1 gallon of mineral spirits into them (obviously they overflowed...a lot) and then proceeded to blast compressed air through every end until it was dry, then i blasted more air. One of my many questions now is, do you guys think that will suffice for a flush (like i said, the system is clean, I am just starting from the beginning and making sure i don't miss anything)? Next, i noticed the shop air was humid and not as dry as it should be. Is there anything else i should do about this, or just pull a deep vacuum over night? On with more questions...my system calls for 4oz of PAG 46 oil and basically says to put 2oz in the compressor, and the rest in various parts of the system, I s this sound right? Now for a really dumb question, on my compressor their is an oil plug that sits on the top, do i fill it up here, or do i place the oil in the inlet port on the compressor? Tim, i just realized i am going to need a new dryer, im ordering that right now from you, i think i can clean up one of my 4 expansion valves i have here that will work fine. Anyway, tell me what you guys think and throw advice my way...thanks always for your help.

Ben

Does your drier look like image one or two. Double checking the item and get two different listings.

That's what I thought. It is a higher cost drier but I take care of that on our end.
