vac pump care/storage

mhamilton on Tue April 15, 2008 6:06 PM User is offlineView users profile

Just picked up a Robinair 3cfm vacuum pump (so I can finally do all my own ac service). The manual suggests changing the oil after every evacuation. For my purposes, will probably only use it once a year, then put it back in the box. Should I change and refill the oil before storing, just empty the old oil and store it dry, or leave the old oil in?

Thanks,
-Michael

Old oil is fine for storage. Never store a pump drained of oil.
