My local Toyota and Honda dealers are that way as neither of these companies have fixed suggested retail prices on their parts so been driving down to Madison or Milwaukee where there is some kind of competition from central WI. These local guys try to rob me blind.

I just cleaned and polished the relay contacts on my 88 Supra fuel pump relay contacts, solenoid still works, no sense in replacing a relay just because the contacts are dirty, even wash my dishes and those are a lot cheaper than buying some of these relays. In other applications, pulled out the electromechanical guts and replaced with a transistor that is not as hard as it sounds when dealing with mostly single Form A relays. Much depends on the application, some require an optical coupled isolator if contact isolation is required. Forget about a DPDT relay, that gets to be work.

If the inductive load does not have any type of flyback protection, would add a series zener and a diode or just the diode if speed is not required, that greatly extends the life of the relay contacts. If your vehicle is only six years old and you are having problems, must be a piece of crap in there and 97 bucks will only buy you another piece of crap.

The part I'm looking for is 90987-02028 which replaces 90987-02022 (the crap one)

Is that just the compressor coil relay? Four terminals, two for the coil and another two for the contacts. They love to move those terminals around a tad to make them exclusive, it's crazy, most have a 100 ma 12 volt coil and use 10 amp contacts, just a zillion different shapes.

i have the same situation, but with my 03 corolla. rockauto.com has an a/c clutch control relay for 13.50 by a brand called 4 seasons. I think 90987-02028 is the a/c clutch relay and not the compressor control relay, because when I search for the part number on other sites that's what it comes up as. it looks similar...but to order..or not to order...

i also noticed the a/c starts working again when i use the horn relay in its place, is this likely to blow really quick?

It is the AC/Clutch Relay (90987-02028) I have no idea if the one from rockauto.com will work or not. I plan just go to a salvage yard and pull one off a 2004 or newer. Those have the upgraded relay and no problems
