Need new Compressor!

Homercidal on Tue June 10, 2008 7:35 PM User is offline

Year: 2000
Make: Dodge
Model: Durango
Engine Size: 4.7L
Refrigerant Type: 134
Country of Origin: United States

My compressor bearing failed completely and I'm afraid the compressor needs to be replaced. I'd like to order from ACKITS.COM, but the model they list doesn't look like the model on the truck. The truck is a Sanden SD7H15, but cast on the bottom is 4729, and the model number on the sticker is 4791. The image on the website doesn't look like the one on the truck, and I am unsure if this is because it's the wrong one, or if the image is a stock photo of some generic compressor.

Also, I need step-by-step on how to replace the original if anyone can help.

Much appreciated!

That's IT! Awesum! Now I just need to order it and get it ASAP, as her truck is Out Of Commission ATM.

Where can I find instructions on how to swap and what to look for for other troubles? I've looked around, but haven't seen a place to get this info.

If you want the most detail instruction possible. I suggest getting the AllData Subscription for this vehicle. Good thing about this it cover the entire vehicle not just the A/C. So if you need information on the brakes in the future it's there for you.

Except for the A/C, there isn't much on this vehicle that I can't fix with the Haynes or Chilton's manuals. (except I think both of those have lost quality over the years. Maybe my imagination...).

I downloaded the Sanden SD service manual from their website and I think it has some pretty good information about what I need to do.

Do i need to have any special equipment to recharge the system? Or can I just flush and assemble and start adding R134?

This should answer that question.
