slynch009 on Sat July 12, 2008 10:12 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Volkswagen
Model: Jetta
Engine Size: 2.0
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: 65
Pressure High: 145
Country of Origin: United States

Installed rebuilt compressor, new pressure switch, new dryer, and expansion valve. Pulled vacuum. Added 4 oz. of oil and 2 1/2 cans of freon. My low side 65 high side 145. And still have hot air coming out of the vents. I had the same problems before the installation of the new parts. Compressor clutch engages lines get cold but no result at the vents.
Thanks

The compressor is a ready air compressor bought from Autozone.

Any ideas? Could it be a bad compressor?

Could be heater air mixing in the duct work. Try clamping off the heater hoses to see if cold air returns.

Use 4 thin strips of wood or flat pieces of steel and 2 pairs of large vice grips. Works for me!

Not a fan of Redi-Air remans.

Could have too much oil in the system as you do not mention flushing old out out of the system. Pump could be weak or control valve issue. 30 ounces of refrigerant is the max on the capacity chart with 24 ounces the minimum. But at 65/145 you don't look to be pumping all that much to begin with. This has an expansion block not valve so no capillary tube to worry about. Maybe backing up and stating the reason for all these replacements may help.
