Changing orifice tube size?

stephen4785 on Mon July 14, 2008 11:54 AM User is offline

Iv been told in the past that if you change the size of the o-tube on certain vehicles that it would perform better. My theory is that if you have to change the size then it's just compensating for some other malfunction in the system.

Yeah- It's not like OEMs spend all that money developing an efficient system (wind tunnel testing and the like) then decide to raise or lower the OT size to make it worse.. Heck, I have seen them fight over a 1/4 of a degree head level temp just to have a better system then their competition.…

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Intesting but there could be a purpose for a specific vehicle. I wonder how many don't change the O-tube on an R-12 to 134a conversion?

My 02 Jeep never got comfortable. I played with tubes. and replaced the stock Purple one with an Orange one. I can freeze meat in it now..........Well almost.

With the Purple tube I was lucky to see 53F. Orange gets me 42F.

Thanks guys! I love this site. I was talking to the misses about it last night and saying its one of my favorite sites because of all the helpful information and complete lack of discrimination. Thanks again!

Huh? You talking about the order? Would have been more but it seems to take forever to get through pages. I just got tired of waiting and had to quit. But while we're on the subject, any plans to "lighten the load" on us poor dial-up folks?

Website (www.ackits.com) should be fast even for dial up.

If you used the PDF files they take a long time and are not up to date. Matter of fact we had to update most of your numbers on that order to fit you application.

Yes thanks for the order!

I just open the main site with Net-Zero and while not fast it was not super slow. Loading the vehicle app/images took a few but that's the nature of the beast with images. This winter I look at compressing them even more.

Maybe the "tube" gets thin by the time it gets out here in the sticks. Clicking on the AMA link at the top of the page gets me to the home page. It's over 200Kb and took 1 minute and 6 seconds to load. There's only a few small pics but I can't see where over 200Kb is necessary. Something else must be going on. Thanks for checking though.

Hey Tim, did you get my email about the change in parts?

Yes and responded hours ago. Email must be slow also.

There has been some confusion on the right items between what's listed on 3 vendors sites. We are just trying to make sure you get was is needed for that vehicle. I'll double check things in the morning.
