My AC works good with cooler temps but as soon as it gets to about 85 amb the AC does not seem to work or even kick on. What is the typical causes of this? It has the required amount of refrigerant put in. Thanks
paul
are you cooling fans operating? is your air gap on compressor at about .020" ?

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
One simple reason without further information is that when it is 80ðF outside, a 30 degree delta at the vents "feels" a lot cooler than say a 35-40 degree delta when it's 110ðF out.
Need a little more specific information like low/high side pressures at 1500 rpm to be of any real help though.
