Vacuum Leakdown Rate

Zwickl on Wed January 07, 2009 8:24 AM User is offline

Hi, after drawing a vacuum on a A/C system or individual component such as a evaporator core, is there an acceptable rate by which the vacuum level can decrease and be considered leak free?

Once the water has boiled away (which increases the internal pressure), there is no acceptable leakage rate. In addition, it is possible for a system to hold vacuum just fine but leak under pressure.
