help 97 chevy venture comp. install

marco0658 on Wed July 15, 2009 12:19 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: chevy
Model: venture
Engine Size: 3.4
Refrigerant Type: r134
Ambient Temp: 95-100f
Country of Origin: United States

I'm installing a compressor, orifice valve, accumalator for a friend. The compressor is locked up. I need to know how much oil should I add to the compressor and how much for the accumalator? Does vacuuming out the system remove any oil and how long should i vacuum it? How many ounces of refrigerant should I add if it ask for (2 lbs.) Which oil should I use? I have Ester (100 ISO) and Pag 150 (Poly Alkylene Glycol). The car calls for synthetic oil type 12345923. Also the compressor seems to break down every year any ideas? No mechanics or A/C technicians here can fix it to last longer than a year. Thanks marco

is the comp new???

no, vacuuming the system does not remove the oil,the amount should be on the under hood sticker, probably 2lbs(32oz's)4 sngle system, pull vac for 30mins watch for 30 mins then pull again and hold again is what i do, Pag 150 is to b used.

do it right the first time and should only do it once. need the right amount of oil and 134a.

You will continue to have failures until the repair is done correctly. New compressor, accumulator, orifice tube and condenser are needed. All other system components need a proper flush to remove the oil and debris of 3 compressors. Hecat has provided a nice Technical paper on flushing. I highly suggest using the Hecat products.

So it's a new "reman" then? drain the oil out measure it and replace with known right amount of oil,and do as tim said too... you have lots of debris in the syytem.

The condenser is full of 4 or 5 reman compressor parts plus the system most probably oil overcharged if some has been added every time.

STOP !!!!!! Marco, you have a choice here to be the hero and the only one who can fix it, or be just like the others and it will fail again.

Its time to clean to bare metal and replace components that cannot be verified to be clean.
