Replaceing a hard line

Year: 1983
Make: Isuzu
Model: PUP
Engine Size: 2.2
Refrigerant Type: R-12

I need to replace the hard line on my AC. It was missing when I got the truck. I think battery acid got to it and it was removed and thrown away. It seems like a lot of these are gone from others that I've talked to that have this truck. It's item #43 in this picture.

What is the best way to fabricate one? Use parts like the stuff that Doc's Blocks sell. I've done brazing and such before, but not with alum... Can the alum tubing be bent with ease. Would a regular flaring tool be used to make the flare. This isn't an o-ring fitting Text The line goes through a opening in the radiator mounting wall and since I don't have one it will have to be a bend and fit, bend and fit deal. I had Parker make me a soft line, but it was so stiff that I could hardly get it bent to fit in the area and after a couple of months the hose had a pin hole come in the line. They never would tell me if the line was made for freon and I'm concerned to use another one from them... suggestions from anyone.

Aluminum tubing can be bent and flared the same way as copper tubing. Make one piece as a template and once you get it the right shape, duplicate that shape with a new piece of tubing. That way the one you install hasn't been weakened by repeated bending.

Can you use the ends and then use flex hose for the middle portion? Or have a new line made up like that?

Here is what I have at the present time. I haven't tried to put it on yet, but it's about the same stuff that the first one was made up of and it was a PIA to get installed with the bends so sharp. It's really stiff and real hard to get it bent into the areas that it has to go. I wish that there was some softer hose that I could use and could make it up myself. I'm afraid that a softer hose would maybe collapse with the sharp bends.
