I've had an issue with my a/c for about a year now. I don't drive as much as I use to so I forget about it until it's hot. The a/c blows very cold when I first start the truck and will continue to blow cold for about 10 minutes and will continue to blow cold if I keep the rpm's above 2,000. once the rpm's drop below 2,000 it just blowing vent air, not air conditioned air. I had it in the Ford shop sometime last year for something else and they said it was my evaporator, but that doesn't make sense to me. I thought an evaporator worked or it didn't...period. Any ideas?
You need to check your pressures first. Odds are it is low on R134a and only builds enough pressure to cycle on the compressor when the RPM's are raised. Check for any signs of leaks on the hose fittings/crimps as well as the compressor.
