Miami on Sat June 12, 2010 8:43 PM User is offline

Year: 1994
Make: Honda
Model: Accord
Engine Size: 2.2
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: 65/120
Pressure High: 450/300
Country of Origin: United States

Need some help diagnosis the ac system problem.

After vacuum the system & recharge it & the reading are:

Low: 65 psi when compressor engages
High: 450 psi when compressor engages

Low: 120 psi when compressor disengages
High: 300 psi when compressor disengages

The condenser fan turn on when I turn on the a/c, the car isn't over heating.
Can someone help me to pin point the problem.
Any help will be appreciated Thanks

The car was running hot, so I end up changing the thermostat & the condenser fan motor. While idle the air wasn't cooling , it blows cool once was driven. I put the gauges to check it out & it read: Low side Pass 125 psi( on my gauges says retard) & over 450 psi on the high side; I vented some refrigerant to avoid something from blow out.
the next day I vacuum & recharge the system to test it again 7 got this readings:Low:

65 psi when compressor engages
High: 450 psi when compressor engages

Low: 120 psi when compressor disengages
High: 300 psi when compressor disengages

The gauges move simultaneous on opposite directions.
When I was charging the system notice (a couple of time) that it was pushing refrigerant back into the canister. I belive is a bad compressor but I'm not sure. Any idea? Thanks

Sounds like it's over charged. How much refrigerant did you put in? My list says 23ozs.

Did you add any oil to the system? Check for something restriction air flow across the condenser. If you pulled into a vacuum before charging and filled to the amount listed. You would seem to have a air flow issue.

Make sure that your high side gauge is shut off and only the low side is open wile charging then shut the low side gauge. Sound like you have them both open at the same time…

I only charge to the low side; high side is all ways closed, except when is been vacuum.
