Where to add oil to the drier???

por924 on Sat July 24, 2010 11:23 PM User is offline

Year: 1996
Make: Chevy
Model: k2500 Suburban
Engine Size: 7.4
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 110
Country of Origin: United States

I'm sure this has been covered before so sorry but I have done extensive searching on the net as well as this site to no avail! I understand that PAG oil needs to be added to the system whenever a component is replaced. I just replaced my receiver/drier but wasn't sure where(in it) to add the oil. In other words, if I am to add the oil directly to the drier, in which opening should I add it to? Hope my question is clear enough!! Thanks in advance folks.

Just pour some oil in the accumulator you are replacing. The oil will be mixed up as soon as you operate the system itself.

Ok thank you sir or ma'am. Another question I have been wondering about when it comes to the drier is why doesn't the absorbent material inside of it soak up the oil that is presented to it?

until someone comes by with the science of it ...

dessicant is hygroscopic - it absorbs moisture (water), not oil.

Good Luck 2 ya,
