Year: 1965
Make: Toyota
Model: Celica GTS
Engine Size: 2.0
Refrigerant Type: R12
I am trying to figure out the oil capacity for this car as the FSM only describes how much to add for each component replaced. Would I add up each of these component capacities? Can you figure out the total oil capacity based on refrigerant capacity for this vehicle? R12 capacity is 1.7 lb - 1.9 lb. I am guessing 7.5-8.0 ounces mineral oil. The NAPA chart skips this model year. The FSM shows the following capacities per component:
Evaporator Case 40 - 50 cc
Condenser 40 - 50 cc
Receiver 20 cc
Compressor 60-100 cc
This would total 160 - 220 cc (5.4 - 7.4 ounces)
The NAPA chart shows 8.75 ounces for 1985 and 1986 model years. The 1986 Corolla and Cressida also show 8.75 ounces. Why would the component capacities shown in the FSM not add up to 8.75 oz (259 cc's)? I believe that since the 86-87 Celicas were identical and have the same R12 capacity (1.7 lb), then the oil capacity is likely 8.75 ounces.
