Did I use teh wrong PAG oil

msurette on Wed August 04, 2010 2:49 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Chevy
Model: Corvette
Engine Size: 350
Refrigerant Type: R134a

I just finished replacing the compressor on my 97 Vette and recharging the system. I followed the advice of another 97 Corvette owner and used PAG 46 oil when I charged the system. Now I've been doing some research (that I should have done BEFORE I charged the system) and I find references to using PAG 150 oil. Did I use the wrong oil? If so do I have to completely drain the system and charge it again with 150 oil? Will the system be harmed by using incorrect viscosity oil or does it just not perform as well?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Matt

I list PAG 150 for this vehicle. Using PAG 46 could shorten the life of the compressor. Is it worth the risk, judgment call.
