Noise, Poor Performance

Hello everyone,

Having some problems with the A/C on my car. The main problem is poor performance - on a 80+ degree day, it just can't keep up. Some possible symptoms I've observed are a continuous hissing from the vents and a whining sound that varies with engine speed from the engine bay when the A/C is running. I've made a video of the sounds for your observation:

Sounds of the A/C

EDIT: link above seems to be broken. Cut and paste the following into your address bar:

Before I start to pursue the repair, (step 1 is buying a new set of gauges to hang along with my R12 gauges to get some readings) I would like some second opinions on the noises observed. Can anyone tell from the video if the whining sound is the death whine of the compressor, or is it perhaps just a clutch bearing, or...?

Thanks in advance,
Jamie
