Year: 1988
Make: Alfa
Model: Romeo
Engine Size: 2.0Litre
Refrigerant Type: r-12

Hi Guys,

Ok, sometime in the past this car was converted to r134. I am now gong back to r-12. I have pulled the evaporator and thouroughly flushed it. the TXV looks great so with new o rings reinstalled it and the evap back in car. I had new hoses manufacturered and a NOS condenser located and new receiver/dryer. I purchased a new sanden 507 compressor. It was shipped from factory with 5GS oil. I understand Sanden recommends only mineral oil and r-12 for this compressor but at some time in the future the car may again be converted to r134 so i was thinking perhaps i should change out the 5gs factory oil to ester so it is compatable with either. Would this be a good idea since system is now going to be like new and i really do not want to pull the evaporator again in the future due to the labour in pulling the dash. any other drawbacks? pros or cons?

Thanks

R12 I would stick with mineral oil myself.
