Internal A6 question

Year: 1965
Make: Chev
Model: Corvette
Engine Size: 327
Refrigerant Type: r12

I've got my A6 apart for new O-rings and I have noticed something that may be a concern.

In my 65/66 Chevy manuals, they show a spacer and o-ring at each end of the oil crossover tube (copper). My A6 does not have these parts. The copper tube ends are flush with the cast surfaces it's pressed into. I don't see any lip that an o-ring could seat into.

My question for you experienced rebuilders: were these oil tube spacers in early A6's, but later eliminated from the design at some point?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.
