Making "in house" hoses

pinch on Mon July 25, 2011 2:15 PM User is offlineView users profile

I am thinking of starting making "in house" hoses and pipes for ac for faster service for customers.
I have only made hydraulic hoses and pipes before so now I have some questions.
What equipment and fittings should one start of with ?
How do you go about when making hoses and pipes with fittings ?
Do you cut off the old fittings and replace them with a pair of new ones if you dont have the right fitting at hand ?
What kind of fittings are there ? I know of bubble crimp (think its called so )
And about anything else one should know when making custom hoses and pipes.
I have tried searching the net but doesnt seem to be much info there about this.
Regards

Have lots of parts... And a crimper with a bunch of dies.

I believe the tools/skills are basically the same but I've never done hydraulic hoses. Do they use O ring fittings or flares or what?

I'm doing my 1st AC system now and the Four Seasons catalog has helped out a lot.

Making hoses is the way to go these days. It's a simple process if you get the tools required. Don;t try and cut corners on this. Four Seasons has fittings as mentioned. We also have them in bulk and you would be supporting the forum also. Here is just a small percentage of fittings we carry.

Fittings and such at AMA.
