Just can't get past barely cool air

BGerrin on Fri April 20, 2012 3:24 PM User is offline

Year: 2007
Make: Chevy
Model: Aveo
Engine Size: 1.6L
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 80
Pressure Low: 45
Pressure High: 140
Country of Origin: United States

Wondering what to do next? I've flushed the system, pulled a vacuum, checked for leaks and didn't find any, put in 24 oz. of 134a, compressor clutch is engaged but the temp in the vent with ac on max is never below 60. It's been a couple of weeks since I did the work and I have rechecked my pressures and they haven't changed. Anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks!

Is the evaporator core free of debris? Does your Aveo have a cabin air filter?

If it's a V5 compressor, could have a bad control valve. Set the interior blower on low and rev the engine, does the low side ever drop below 45?

Yes to both. I just changed the cabin air filter and I removed the front bumper and grill a few weeks ago while I was searching for leaks.

How can I tell if it is a V5? I hooked the guage up and put the blower on low, reved the engine and the reading stayed right around 46. Model number on compressor is 714979.
