I Just bought an 02 Tahoe and the ac didnt work on it. Thought I found what was an easy fix. The low side pressure switch connector was unplugged. plugged it it and got nice cold ac out of front and back, until I went for a drive. I got the loud rattling noise and noticed my tensioner was banging around wildly on accelaration. Well anyways after some searching I found the tsb that gm released saying that the compressor was failing due to liquid slugging. So Im just curious as to what is going bad in the compressor if it still cools well and seems to work as it should.
I have no problem putting in a new compressor, but Im curious what the fix is for the actual slugging. Iv searched and searched and cant find anything that addresses the slugging issue. I just dont want to keep throwing compressors and parts at it every 10k. Anybody have any ideas? And thanks

I've saved hundreds on service by spending thousands on tools.
Once the tensioner starts bouncing the compressor only lasts a few days. Oddly enough the trucks I see this in almost always have 86,000 miles on them.
