York compressor #20-10331 compatibility

flagreen on Sun July 08, 2012 12:04 AM User is offline

Year: 1985
Make: Audi
Model: 4000S Quattro
Engine Size: 2.3L
Refrigerant Type: Was 134A
Ambient Temp: N/A
Pressure Low: N/A
Pressure High: N/A
Country of Origin: Germany

I purchased the above compressor from AMA in April of 2010. I bought it for use in not only replacing a worn out compressor but also for use with R-134A which I convereted to at that time. The compressor has worked fine. But I'm disappointed in the cooling power of the system with the stock R-12 condensor. No one makes a parallel flow condensor that would fit in my car. So I am considering going back to R-12. I used the green o-rings that are ok with both the R-12 and R-134A. And I can buy a new drier rated for R-12. BUT will the compressor work in R-12?

Thanks in adance!

Bill

Change the oil in the compressor, flush the system and replace the drier. No reason you should have issue going back to R12. Just need to do the steps.
