Aussie Trucker Here, I have a DC powered Roof Top A/C on my truck for driving, CAN I mount a small petrol engine on my truck to drive a second compressor that I could T into the other hoses from the main compressor to run the unit when main engine turned off for sleeping. Maybe need a valve to lock off hoses to main compressor. Will this work ?
So what I am saying is that I will have the one cabin unit that has its own condensor, evaporator dryer etc only the compressor is isolated Question can I have a second compressor run off a small engine run unit for sleeping. Thanks Guys

With two compressors in parallel, I would think the valves in the compressors would act like check valves if you're only using one of the compressors.

Motorhomes use a generator set for stuff like that, available with gas, diesel, or propane powered. Lot easier to play with wires than refrigerant hoses, valves and all that other stuff.

Stop at any truck or rest area in the US, see lines and lines of truckers with their engines running all night. Ha, back in the old days, trucker's use to take No-Doz and drive straight through, but I think they have regulations against that.

With my motorhome, just open the windows at night without electricity, at four bucks a gallon for gas, would go broke running that generator all night. Most camping places charge two bucks for an electrical hookup. Surprised truck stops haven't thought of that. Would be the cheapest quietest way to stay cool. Newer RV units, also have heat pumps.
