2007 Mercury cools at higher rpms

Year: 2007
Make: Mercury
Model: Montego
Engine Size: 3.0
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 85
Pressure Low: 70
Pressure High: 170
Country of Origin: United States

My wife has a 2007 Mercury montego with 6cyl auto trans. I drove it yesterday, around 90 degree outside, and noticed the ac works good going down the road or sitting still with rpms up to 1200 plus but when at idle it blows cooled air. I first checked the condensed for plugs or bent fins- ok. Also fans- both working with good air flow. Next i attached my gauges and started to see somekind of problems. My low pressure was around 70psi and high around 160-170psi at idle. When i increased rpms to around 1500 low side drops to around 50psi and high side rises to 210-225psi. Does anyone have a clue from my info? Is there something else to check? Any chance the expansion valve could be messing up instead of the compressor? The dealer replaced about $1800 worth of ac stuff at about 40000 miles while it was under warranty but at that time it would quit cooling while going down the road. i have close to 100000miles and no warranty now. Thanks for any and all ideas, Mike

Did anyone add anything to it?? I would start with a evacuate and recharge into a "deep vacuum " to make sure the proper amount of refrigerant is in the system.. Seems at a glance there may be air in the system... hope this helps..

Nothing added. the system has not been open in about 3 years since the dealer repairs were made.

I ordered some scales today so that when i do open the system i can recharge with proper amount. If i don't find anything else i will try that when it comes.

I would still start with recharging the system.. A small leak can explain the low high side (at 90 degrees it should be more like 190-200psi.. depending on humidity etc) Make sure the fans are running, clean between the rad and condenser, you might have a bad compressor (suction valves) but you do need to have the correct amount in the system before you count it out...
Hope this helps..
