Ford E350 AC clutch Replacement

Gquirin on Mon July 21, 2014 12:00 AM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: Ford
Model: E350
Engine Size: 6.8
Refrigerant Type: r134

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the AC clutch, pulley and coil on the vehicle without evacuating the system? Does anyone know if the system is sealed if the clutch assembly is removed?

Thanks,
Greg

what is wrong with the clutch?
the manual says to remove the compressor to replace clutch witch would require evacuation, I suppose it might be possible to do on the vehicle if you had enough room to use snap ring pliers and a puller in there to remove it without removing the compressor witch wouldn't require evacuation.
however most of the time if the clutch bearing is bad or burnt any the compressor is probably junk also the compressor with clutch is fairly inexpensive on ebay.

Thank you, I did notice that the compressors are only $40 more than the clutch.

Thanks,
