After 22 years of service, my compressor is giving up the ghost. It was converted from R12 to R134 in '97 after a wreck, but I always suspected that it was not converted properly. Anyway, I have decided to treat her to an all new system and am replacing everything while replacing the dreaded heater core. I have everything needed to do it, but cant seem to find the proper amount of Pag to use in it. The retrofit label is long gone, My FSM calls for 4.6ozs of 5GS for R12. 4.6 seems low in comparison to how much others have used (up to 8oz) in the many Jeep forums I'm in, but I certainly don't want to fry a new compressor and everything else, and don't want to put in too much.
Anybody know what the proper oil amount is?
Thanks!
