98 Acura 3.2TL Questions

jgcox6 on Mon July 20, 2015 12:04 PM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: Acura
Engine Size: 3.2
Refrigerant Type: 134
Country of Origin: United States

I have a 98 Acura 3.2 TL that has been running fine at times...but on a long trip, it will initially work great and then just stop cooling. What i mean by initially is that i can go 60 miles or so then it will quit. When it stopped, I left it off for awhile and it worked after about and hour or so off (i was dying, 98deg outside) and works great while it works.

I would like to know if you guys think it could be the clutch gap? Maybe expansion valve sticking

Would you please also tell me how I would go about adjusting or checking the clutch gap on this particular model?

Would you please include the pressures that are normally seen especially on the low side

When it stops cooling, pull over leaving the engine and A/C on and look under the hood to see if the compressor is engaged or not. No cooling with compressor engaged would be a refrigeration problem. Compressor not engaging when it gets hot you should try reducing the clutch gap.

As above. Unless you mean that when it stops cooling that the VOLUME of air coming out of the vents has decreased; because that would indicate an evaporator that has iced over.
