Replaced A/C components - discharge pressure seems high and only blowing cool air.

Year: 1996
Make: Honda
Model: Civic
Engine Size: 1.6
Refrigerant Type: R134
Ambient Temp: 100
Pressure Low: 60
Pressure High: 400-450
Country of Origin: United States

Used car I got and it had a bad compressor that I knew about - it was noisy and seemed to be seizing up. I replaced the following since they were all original and had 350k miles on them.

- Compressor
- Dryer
- Condenser
- Evap Core
- Expansion Valve
- All seals
- Shrader valves

I took the car to a shop to do an evac and recharge on the system - so I could get the correct amount of Freon in it. The a/c cools down to 75 degrees - but obviously that is not low enough. My pressure numbers are at 1500 RPM. Did my lack of flushing the system circulate something and clog the condenser? What are the next steps to troubleshoot this? Also, the high pressure on my gauge was oscillating / bouncing between 400 and 450 and would eventually go off the scale and the compressor would cycle off (hitting the high limits). The low side went to 60 and held there consistently with engine @ 1500rpm. It did not move down as the high pressure side rose. Then it would go up (expected) when the compressor was not engaged..

You have at least one of what could be many issues. Overcharged system, debris, and or a restriction.

Assuming......the shop recharged to specs, there could also bean airflow issue across the condenser.

I bought a can of 134a at w**-mart that had a stop leak, oil, and dye in it. It also had a hose and a gauge, so now I'm an AC pro!

Have no reason to think the shop didn't charge to spec - the pulled the range from sticker under the hood and plugged it into the machine. The condenser sets next to the radiator, and has it's own fan that works. There is nothing in front of it other than the bumper and stock grill. It's also new and not dirty.

Having 450 plus psi on the high side! You have one of the issues mentioned above. All new parts leans to a improperly charged system.

I will start with confirming the system was over charged and post back.

Is the condensor fan working properly?

Could be too much oil-- did the new compressor come filled with oil? Did you add oil? Did the shop add oil?
