Reagan

NickD on Sun June 13, 2004 12:32 PM User is offline

Well not so much about Reagan, God rest his soul, but about the news. When he left office the news completely forgot about him, this past week after his death, that's all they could talk about 24 hours a day. Some of it very bad, some of it very nice about the man, but why wait until a guy is dead before giving him this recognition?

My hat is off to Nancy for spending hours keeping her composure with a hundred cameras jammed in her face, our news sources, and all of them, really suck. Ha, even TMC is showing a bunch of old Reagan movies, talk about running something into the ground.

I had no problem with the coverage of the late President Reagan!

I guess I got this thing about funerals and wakes, when my mom died, people showed up that I haven't seen for a zillion years, thanked them for coming, but wanted to say, why didn't you visit her when she was alive. The same think when my son's friend died last year, seems like our society is possessed with death and this is when everyone crawls out of the woodwork.

When TV first came out we had both the 6:00 and 10:00 PM news that lasted 15 minutes, maybe these 24 hour news channels are too much and what the heck is a news analysis and how does a retired somebody knows what's going on. All we get now is speculation and these constant debates by idiots as to how good or bad a person is, but only after that person is dead. The general coverage was okay, it was just these nasty debates I found in poor taste and they really don't serve any useful purpose.

What would be nice if the people in office were in the debates and not some speculator.

It's boring to be "good" all the time and fun to be bad once in awhile, not really bad, just a little bad, LOL.

Surely you can remember back in grade school there was also a really good kid the teacher would compare you to. In my case, it was Marcia, "Nick", why can't you be as good as Marcia" I was told many times. Not that I was really that bad, the ultimate most insidious crime back then was chewing gum in class, not that I like chewing gum, but it was a challenge to chew gum and not get caught. A good day was chewing gum all day and not getting caught, when the teacher would turn her back, would chew like crazy, but stopped quickly when she turned around. Another trick was to cover your mouth with your hand and take a quick chew, LOL.

Regarding Marcia, she got naughty in high school, got pregnant and she and her parents left town, never heard about her again. LOL, least I never got pregnant in high school, so maybe I wasn't so naughty after all.

So what basis do you use to determine whether a kid is good or bad? Ha, I am still a kid and will always be one, but no fun chewing gum now as no one gives a darn. I can't be all that bad if I am not chewing gum anymore, LOL.

Ha, Chick, Marcia would probably be glad to hear from you, or anyone for that matter, she has to be over 66 years old now, LOL.

Does anyone have a spare stick of gum? I feel like being naughty again.

Marcia moved to Phoenix and has a job with the sheriff's department.
