Something for the mind

Subject: We Should be Sorry....For What????

This brings some good perspective!

For good and ill, the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day My Lai massacre.

I heard some Arabs are asking for an apology. I humbly offer mine here:

I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims
(Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.).

I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after 9/11. I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Arabs.

I am sorry that Arabs have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships. I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth. I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools.

I am sorry that Yasir Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and high jacked the Palestinian "cause". I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians.

I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA.

I am sorry that our own left wing elite and our media can't understand any of this. I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered.

I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death. I am sorry that those same bombers are seeking 72 virgins? I can't seem to find one here on Earth.

I am sorry that the homicide bombers think babies are a legitimate target.

I am sorry that our troops died to free more Arabs. I am sorry they stopped the gang rape rooms and the filling of mass graves of dissidents.

I am sorry they show so much restraint when their brothers in arms are killed. I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group.

I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state. I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah.

I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site". I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites.

I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, etc.

I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in africa

I am sorry the French are..... french?

America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do. We hang out our dirty laundry for all the world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology.

Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners.

Sure, it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated? Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujans.

If you want an apology from this American, you're going to have a long wait. You have a better chance of finding those 72 virgins.

If you are "sorry" also, pass it on! The truth of the matter is that you ALWAYS know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it. ---General H. Norman Schwarzkopf

I heard this letter was floating around Florida:

Power Companies Warning from Florida

It's been a week here in Florida since Hurricane Charley. My workplace got electric power back Wednesday by a crew from Georgia Power. My new job at a small business employer is getting tax relief, so I got paid for the days I couldn't work. No lost wages is pretty cool. My home power was restored a day later by a power company from somewhere while I was at work. Power companies from more than eight states have poured into hurricane ravaged Florida according to a local newspaper. I have seen power workers from Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, West Virginia, and Ohio.

I was giving everyone with these power crews I saw a big thumbs up. And praising them, until someone told me the awful truth. I didn't believe it at first. But the truth is right there to be seen by everyone, once you know where to look. Our state is being criss-crossed by these huge electric power trucks and telephone pole haulers. Look on the backs of these trucks. They all have Bush-Cheney bumper stickers on them. That's right. Our state is being invaded by President Bush Supporters, probably sent here by Halliburton. To get back the White House, we must hate President Bush, everything he does, everything he stands for, and everyone who supports him. These power company guys left their homes and wives to come here and spread lies. Their wives are now left in their home states to fend for themselves, so they don't care about women's rights. Don't go near these guys. Many have children left at home, so they are also anti-abortion. Spit on them. They probably make big money and pay little taxes. They are the future fat cats, evil conservatives, and religious nutballs.

According to the new Michael Moore documentary being financed by the DNC, they are running secret wires to tap into the electronic voting machines. They are also putting in communication lines, so the military absentee ballots will count this time. What a great spokesman he is to be representing our Party. Listen to the truth from the DNC. "We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for the Democrat Party".

We in Florida cannot be bought by low taxes.
J F Kramer

I think we are in for a very screwed up election..........

Great post, Iceman.

Just wish it were possible to force every Arab/Muslim in the entire world to read it. Their governments surely don't allow them to know what is really going on and what the United States actually stands for.

There is a misunderstanding here; that should read 72 Virginians. George Washington and many of his friends are waiting for the Homicide Bombers!

Walt...calm down.....lol...think you miss read the post...go back and look for the sarcastic idea of the letter. An NO AMERICAN owes anyone an apology....not now...not ever.
Ted, should read another post....the George Bush letter.....seems some thing that this country is not free...yet this post surely suggest that we are free to say what we want...and when we want.....just look at the movie....Fahrenheit 911....filled with so many 'false statements' as to be considered ridiculous. Yet it still was viewed by many millions....funny how people waste money.....wonder what would have happened to this is the country in question had been controlled by a religious zealot....wearing a turban....(opps....politically incorrect)...oh well.....live with it....remember what happened to the author...forgot his name....when the ayatollah was offended by his book and the reference to the Koran.....watch out for ya head.
This is still the greatest country in the world...and the one that most anyone else from a third world country would give their left ??? to be here.....God bless this place...and with all her faults....keep her save from Kerry.....

Oh, I understood the full extent of the sarcasm in the letter, but it also provided specifics of just what the U. S. has done for the benefit of the Arab/Muslims and draws comparisons of our actions with theirs. I would be willing to bet that not 1 Arab/Muslim in 1000 knows these facts. They are fed a line of propaganda as twisted, distorted and full of lies as Michael Moore's POS.

No apology from this American. I wouldn't even allow Ted Kennedy to apologize if I could prevent it.

I did read the post on the Bush letter. If it comes to a vote, I will vote for that too.

For sure Ted....many of the third world countries forget how much we as Americans do for them. I know of few other countries that do for others as we do. Even those whose ideologies are completely different from ours. We are the only ones would will destroy a country....Japan...and then spend more money than my wife could ever spend rebuilding it......
Then to hear Kerry and his little speech about how we were killing babies...raping and pillaging in SouthEast Asia. Sure it happens...bad things happen in war.....but it was far from the norm....most American GI's attempted to befriend the South Viet population. Worked for the American Embassy....during this time....saw some strange and horrible things...both from their side and ours....but by far....the average GI would not cause needless harm to a civilian.
The very worst part..is like you stated....the training and brain washing that most are exposed to....concerning us...the ugly Americans.....all the while eating food stuffs supplied by us......living in,not complete freedom,...but a damn sit more free than when dearest Saddam was in office.

A few quotes for those who feel that this is all Bush's fault.

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real" - Senator John Kerry (D - MA), Jan. 23, 2003

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

Wonder what Gore would have done.....no...feel in my heart....send dear ole Maddy over to talk them into a peaceful accord.........damn glad 'we stole the election'

Yes Iceman, there are hundreds of quotes from Democrats about Saddam and WMD's made while Dubya was the Gov. of Texas, which is really strange when they claim that "Bush Lied". Fact is, the leftist bunch that have hijacked the Democratic Party are totally immune to embarrasment. They go about their day slammin Dubya as if they never said a word about it, vote for the war and then act like Dubya did it all on his own. I'm convinced that they believe they the general population of this country is made up of brain dead people. I get insulted almost daily with the barrage of BS these people spew. They will say Dubya said something he never said, then turn around and demand an apology!!!
What Gall!!!!

Anyway, I do believe that almost 50% of this nation dosen't deserve to live in a free society, shouldn't have the right to vote, because these people need a dictatorship to tell them what to think, what to do, what to eat, what to drive, and so on. Disgusting. Free speech is OK to Kerry, only if you agree with him. Funny isn't it? You never hear about Moveon.org, Act for America, and the other organizations that billionaire George Soros has started, with the sole intent on getting rid of Dubya, hell, he admits it, and has spent millions on this goal, but you never hear it from the mainstream media, only about the swift boat veterans and their nasty ad.

I ran across this (actually, it was posted on another group) and wondered if anyone can verify any of it:
"
John Kerry on Defense -- I hadn't seen this list printed before. It would
make one heck of a mailer if it were sent to voters.

He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle
He voted to kill the M-1 Abrams Tank
He voted to kill every aircraft carrier laid down from 1988.
He voted to Kill the F-15 Strike Eagle
He voted to Kill the Block 60 F-16
He voted to Kill the P-3 Orion upgrade
He voted to Kill the B-1
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the Patriot Anti Missile System
He voted to Kill the FA-18
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the F117
In short, he voted to kill every military appropriation for the
development and deployment of every weapons systems since 1988 to
include the battle armor for our troops. With Kerry as president our
Army will be made up of naked men running around with sticks and clubs.

He also voted to kill all anti terrorism activities of every agency of
the U.S. Government and to cut the funding of the FBI by 60%, to cut the
funding for the CIA by 80%, and cut the funding for the NSA by 80%.

But then he voted to increase OUR funding for U.N operations by 800%!!!
"
America elects the leaders that she deserves. Regrettably, we deserve the choices that we are being offered. Indeed, as was said a letter or two back, the Dems do seem to believe that half the country is brain dead; and with good reason.

Speaking of voting...........This is interesting..........

ONE MAN, ONE VOTE....IN TWO PLACES
This should not come as a surprise. In an exclusive, The New York Daily News is reporting that some 46,000 New Yorkers are registered to vote in both New York and Florida. It's against the law, but it happens all the time because officials don't investigate across state lines.
Think about that....46,000 potentially fraudulent ballots. Bush won Florida by 537 votes in 2000. What's worse? Of the 46,000, 68% are Democrats. Adding insult to injury, at least 1,700 of those that vote both places actually have absentee ballots from the other jurisdiction mailed to their home.

The 2004 Democratic voter fraud machine is already gearing up.

Little Johnny was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- fireman, policeman, salesman, doctor, lawyer, etc.

Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy for money."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little Johnny aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said Johnny, "He works for the Kerry campaign, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

Yes anonymous, it ireally dosen't mean a whole lot because we do not deciede elections on the popular vote, although we were told that Gore won the popular vote, and yet at the same time, from the same mouths, all the votes were not counted. I can't make any sense of that reasoning. :-)

Isn't it ironic that Kerry has urged Bush to "call off his attack dogs", the Swifties; yet, he made his documented lying attack dog, Michael Moore, a part of his convention! The double standards of these people are mind boggling.

As someone has mentioned, Kerry voted against funding body armor for the troops and then had the gall to criticize Bush for sending them into battle without it.

Has he no shame? I think we know the answer to that.

The only things I can determine that Kerry has really accomplished in his life is marrying two extremely wealthy women. Apparently he was looking for someone who could afford to finance his presidential campaign.

Along with all this other 'political' stuff.....from one of the more humerous folks in media today.......enjoy

You gotta love Robin Williams... Leave it to Robin Williams to come up
with the perfect plan .. what we need now is for our UN Ambassador to
stand up and repeat this message.

Robin William's plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan
for peace. So, here's one plan.

1.) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their
affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega,
Milosevic and the rest of those 'good ole boys,' We will never
"interfere" again.

2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with
Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We
would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in
the fence.

3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and
leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder
will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they
are. France would welcome them.

4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90
days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation
would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't
hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need
any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5.) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers.
If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy
wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but
will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The
caribou will have to cope for a while.

7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel
for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can
go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells
filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we
will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds,
rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is
stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if
anything.

9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We
don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building
would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no
one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is
ENGLISH.....learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your
tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's
yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'"

Just another little bit of info.....some thoughts..for when one is seated on the throne...and discovering that the paper you picked up is yesterdays edition.....

We continue to be amazed at how political leaders are reading
off the Michael Moore playbook as outlined in is movie,
"Fahrenheit 9/11." It further emphasizes the importance of
Grassfire's new publication, "Michael Moore’s Misleads."

For example, Moore goes to great lengths in an attempt to show
that President Bush didn't know what to do when he first found
out that America was under attack on 9/11. Moore shows footage
of the President sitting in a Florida classroom for seven
minutes after an aid told him about the World Trade Center
attacks. Moore makes the President look incompetent and
confused.

It's a Moore mislead. Moore manipulated the video footage and
ignored the facts. We expose Moore's tactics in our pamphlet.
It's Mislead #6.

+ + Kerry attacks Bush for the 7-minute delay

A few days ago, Sen. John Kerry read from the Moore playbook
in criticizing President Bush for the supposed 7-minute delay.
Here is what Kerry said:

Had I been reading to children and had my top aide
whispered in my ear, 'America is under attack,' I would have
told those kids very politely and nicely that the President of
the United States had something that he needed to attend
to -- and I would have attended to it.

+ + What Did Kerry Actually Do On 9/11?

Before we go on, we want to state that we disagree with Michael
Moore's analysis of the supposed "7-minute delay." We also
disagree with leaders like Sen. Kerry making this an issue.
Events were unfolding quickly and there was much confusion
in those first moments.

That said, it is important to point out the hypocrisy of
Sen. Kerry by looking at what Kerry himself did at that
same moment in time.

Here is Sen. Kerry's explanation of what he was doing when
the first attacks came (see link below to the full transcript):

KERRY: I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting --
we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's
office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara
Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched
the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly
thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized
nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw
the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came
from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to
evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation.

+ + Kerry: "Nobody Could Think"

For the record, it was about 40 minutes between the when the
second tower was hit and when the Pentagon was hit. For 40
minutes, Sen. John Kerry, a sitting member of the Senate
Intelligence Committee, sat in a room with Senate Leader
Tom Daschle.

In Kerry's own words, "nobody could think."

Sen. Kerry sat in a very vulnerable place on Capitol Hill for
40 minutes after the second tower was hit. What did he mean when
he said, "nobody could think"? Perhaps the chaos and confusion
of the moment meant that a group of top leaders in the Senate
really did not know what to do! So they sat in a vulnerable
Senate office, exposed to attack. Apparently, Kerry and others
did not yet realize that America was at war.

When did Kerry know America was at war?

Again, in Sen. Kerry's own words:

And as we went out of the building, my immediate feeling
was, we're at war. I mean, that was the sense, that we are
under attack. People are attacking the United States of
America and we needed to respond.

So, more than 45 minutes after the second tower was hit, as
Sen. Kerry was evacuating the Capitol, his "immediate feeling"
was that America was "at war." In his own words, it took
Sen. Kerry 45 minutes to come to this conclusion.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
