Difference between XP Pro and Home

MrBillPro on Fri April 22, 2005 9:38 AM User is offlineView users profile

Nick, I heard also that XP Pro "which I run" I more geared to networking, and the internet but that is just hearsay, also I am the King Xp Tweaker, I know how to get rid of things I don't need and keep the things I do and how to speed it up a lot by tweaking, of course tell you how on the board would wear down my fingertips.

Try running a business network instead of just trying to gain access to the internet and you will notice the difference!

XP Pro supports Network Domains while XP Home does not. Also, you really can not do Active Directory on Home.

Yes Nick, you certainly can file (and print) share between 98SE and XP boxen. It will work with either TCP/IP or NETBEUI even tho XP doesn't support NETBEUI unless you manually install it. You just have to remember to plead, grovel and hold your mouth right as you set it up. :-)

My name on that forum Nick is the same as this one, did you register? under what name? You sit and read a little there you will be building OS's.

Nick, a littel FYI - XP requires registration for all of its components to work properly. MS set it up that way. They got tired of people installing the same OS on multiple PCs. W2000 is that way. You can install it over and over with no problem.
