"Little" shop? That place is HUGE... at least by NYC standards! Very impressive indeed, I like it! Thanks for sharing those pics!

However, please say it ain't so... non-airconditioned service bays in the middle of the desert! You won't have worry about getting a resume from me!

They have swap coolers out in the shop! Work pretty good most of the year. Plus the bays face east so the sun is mostly behind them! Problem is I need more room then we have now but that costs money!!! I could use another 10,000 square feet on top of the 20,000 warehouse space we have now.

Glad you like our little place. Only thing I forgot to show was the penguin holding pen out back.

20,000 SF huh... those photos clearly don't show that volume of space, and I think I know why:

You don't want us to see the penguin internment area(s) in your facility!

Oh yeah, and your shipping area is really that small... right. And that big roll of bubble wrap so conspicuously pictured... we all know that's just a photo prop to cast aside our well founded suspicions about the "real" packing material you're utilizing over there.

C'mon Tim, we weren't born yesterday, ya know!

Hey, dad said the buildings are about 18 to 20 thousand. I can get out my 12 foot tape and measure if you like. In this photo you can just catch the blue bag for the feather hopper, I mean popcorn hopper. How big of an area do you need to process an order? Once its done it goes outside for the UPS truck.

Do the people that work on air conditioners work in a none air conditioned environment? Isn't it a bit warmer under the hood of a vehicle than the already outrageous ambient temperatures in Arizona?

bohica2xo on Fri August 19, 2005 3:39 PM User is offline

Wow Tim, I had no idea you had that much production capability - I am impressed!

Nick:

It is common practice to run open bays like that in the southwest, with big swamp coolers behind the mechanics. Positive pressure and 3,500 cfm per bay gives a nice cool draft past the mechanic, and blows all of the foul air out of the shop too. It can be quite comfortable in my garage with the large door open, and the swamp cooler on low. It will be at least 20 degrees cooler, and a car that is too hot to touch will be cool in minutes - lots of capacity.

Brad, did you see we may be headed your way for the SEMA show? The guys also can attach a big duck hose to the coolers which they stick in the window. Not too bad when you have a full cooler blowing straight on you.

Tim:

I saw your SEMA post - will you be bringing my badge too? LOL I would like to get together with you when you are here - I will send you an e-mail my friend.

Perhaps we can use some R290 to prepare a Penguin for consumption while you are here.....

Is that Jack on the far right with the phone stuck in his ear? Is that phone temporarily attached to his ear or does he use Nylog to hold it? Wonder what will happen if someone pulls on the phone about a foot and lets it go if Nylog is used?

Cool about the swamp coolers, didn't know that, but with 3,500 cfm air, don't the mechanics have to nail their shoes to the floor before they put them on?

Is the guy behind the camera really that good looking?

Checking the SEMA site online registration is $ 15.00. I think we could handle an extra ticket if we go. Have to see if that includes AAPEX also.

Just checked and early registration is $ 15.00 for AAPEX also.

Drat!, turn your head for just a moment and those pesky Penguins will swipe your pop.

Don't think that a pint of insulin would taste the same

Oddly enough Chick, yes I can still get in there and I can still access almost everything, the two minisplits in there should be gone by the end of next week, and I can tidy up in there before the management station comes out of the van and goes in to storage.
