Dr. Hassan Abbasi, head of the Centre for Doctrinal Strategic Studies in the Revolutionary Guards, said in a tape recording heard by The Sunday Times, Abbasi warned the would-be martyrs to “pay close attention to wily England” and vowed that “Britain’s demise is on our agenda.”

Better put in a call to Kofi pretty quick!

“Britain’s demise is on our agenda.”

Yeah, right.

I guess that they know better than Hitler, Napoleon, Philip of Spain and every one else who thought that they could

If we cowered at every the words of every puffed up no body, then we would end up as paranoid as those in other parts of the world. So the guy has a fancy title, who gives a stuff?

Britain had already made sure that Hitler wasn't going to invade long before you lot got out of bed, think we owe far more to the Russians, and the Czechs and the Poles and the Canadians and the Austrailians and the NewZealanders and.........

......and. How long does the list get before you would put the US on it? The US did not have to participate, there is a big pond between here and Europe, which could have very likely become one big Germany. My British Grandmother, who was widowed in WWII, hated Yanks. As I immigrated and became a US citizen when I was young, I do not understand why the British seem to still resent the US assistance 60 years later. Do you?

On another note; glad to see a new post on the member board. Since I had the last post a week ago, I was beginning to think I had offended everyone or something. Weathers warming, I guess everyone is getting busier with more important stuff.

Karl just can't seem to make up his mind...

Karl says, "I guess that they know better than Hitler, Napoleon, Philip of Spain and every one else who thought that they could"

In that quote, Karl seems to think Big Bad Britian could kick the worlds A** all by itself, and never needed any help... :-)

Then our confused friend states, "Well we couln't wait around all day for you guys to get off your fat lazy arses, someone had to do the job"

So, in this line, Karl seems to believe we were "obligated" to get involved, and hold Britian's hand against Hitler... :-)

Then our Buddy says, "Britain had already made sure that Hitler wasn't going to invade long before you lot got out of bed"

Funny, what was Hitler going to "invade" Karl, a pile of RUBBLE? :-)

Karl says, "think we owe far more to the Russians, and the Czechs and the Poles and the Canadians and the Austrailians and the NewZealanders and........."

"And" who Karl? Where were the Nazi death camps located? I reckon you'll tell me they were all in Germany...I think Hitler had his way with the Czechs and the Poles... :-)

Seems rather obvious to me that, if the Brits were as tough as they think they are, there would have never been a need for the USA to hold Britians hand, against Hitler...Alot of lives could have been saved, if Britian got off it's lazy fat arse, and did something about it...After all, Hitler was in your neighborhood... :-)

Humm, kinda think some of those countrys still owe us money or had thier "lend lease" loans forgiven, that supplied them with the arms, and in many cases the "planes"(Especially Russia) to hold Germany at bay until we did enter the war.. Just thinking out loud...

PS. Don't get me wrong, but even though I can't remember how many planes England had left to fight the "Battle of Britton" in the air, or how many were left after the battle, those pilots were some of the bravest sons-of-bitches there ever was..To take on the Nazis with that determination until the USA entered the war, and then help to establish full compliments of planes and pilots in England was one of the most heroic feats ever. But don't forget all the convoys sent to "England" during "their" war that left the east coast of the "USA" to help them keep fighting until we entered the fray..

Li'll ol' Britain stood fast against evil and tyrany when the rest of Europe had fallen. It was a haven for fighters from the rest of Europe, all of which contributed massivly in the defense of Britain, knowing that if they had failed, then all that would have been left of Britain would be a pile of smouldering rocks. Meanwhile our freinds across the water showed no interest in fighting for freedom.

So, in this line, Karl seems to believe we were "obligated" to get involved, and hold Britian's hand against Hitler... :-)

Ha! you guys would still have been sitting on the sidelines if it hadn't been for the Japanese wake up call, even then you were so arrogant that you thought that you were immune from the problems of the rest of the world

Then our Buddy says, "Britain had already made sure that Hitler wasn't going to invade long before you lot got out of bed"

The Luftwaffe no longer had air superiority thanks to the supreme sacrifice of the few

Funny, what was Hitler going to "invade" Karl, a pile of RUBBLE? :-)

Thats all that the British would have left him

There were Czech, Polish and Free French Regiments based in Britain, they were the fiercest fighters of all because they had a score to settle, not to mention troops from all over the Commonwealth. The Russians were doing whatever it took in the East too, but you guys were bust hitting the snooze button

........Just like you guys, eventually

The US did not have to participate, there is a big pond between here and Europe, which could have very likely become one big Germany.

Sure, you could have just taken Pearl Harbour and pretended nothing had happened

My British Grandmother, who was widowed in WWII, hated Yanks. As I immigrated and became a US citizen when I was young, I do not understand why the British seem to still resent the US assistance 60 years later. Do you?

I think that hate has a different meaning to you guys as it does to us. Just because we don't gush gratitude and occasionally take the mickey out of you doesn't mean that you are hated, we just think that you are a bit barmey, we see you guys as you guys see folk from LA.
Unfortunately "Taking the mickey" is a form of humour that you have no abillity to understand, and I'm not sure that I can explain it, it seems that it comes through to you as hate, but we see it as a bit of fun.

Sorry, I was hoping to spend a relaxing Easter continuing with my new Kitchen and giving you turkeys a good roasting, but unfortunately an uncle in Bavaria died on Good Friday and I took a few days out to drive my mum and aunt down so they could be at his funeral.

I knew you guys were missing me really

Thanks Chick,

The old boy would have been a little embarrased by the large turnout, he was quite a quiet kind of guy who always liked to help out if he could, I counted 5 catholic priests (He helped out in the towns two churches) the church was full, and the Army gave him a three gun salute since he was a soldier in the war and the standard bearers lowered his standard, He'll be missed

Well Karl, if we are the War Hungry Mongrels you claim we are, then why would you say it took too long for the USA to come to Britians aid?

Jeeze, ya'll could have "Talked" to Hitler and avoided the whole thing! :-)

So who's the War Happy Mongers? We're only 200+ yrs. old...

Besides the "Police Action" politicial War in (and a total waste of time and life, IMO) Vietnam, and the total incompetent Liberal Bubba Clinton in Africa and elsewhere, who's kicked our asses?

Hitler could have been avoided altogether if the allies had used their common sense rather than sense of revenge at the end of ww1. Germany was down on its knees and bankrupt, untill Hitler promised them prosperity, and to be honest for a few years Germany was very prosperous, unfortunately Hitler pushed his luck a little bit and invaded the rest of Europe, so yes talk at the right time could not only have prevented WW2 but would have ensured that Hitler would have died a failed Austrian street artist.

I think the US could still have retaliated for Pearl harbor by taking on the Japanese without ever coming to assist in Europe.

British humor has always been difficult for me to understand. No need to try and explain.

Turkey's are still here to roast.

So sorry to hear of your Uncle's passing.
