This pis is of a 98 Malibu V5 compressor that had a full charge when removed from the car. Going over it, I used a "keychain" UV light to show how the stuff lights up.. Thought you might injoy it..

GM's famous single lip seal? Least it ain't a half a lip seal. Can normally see oil leaking out and even refrigerant by applying side pressure on the shaft with my fingers. The EPA ain't concerned about these kind of leaks, otherwise they would have made GM do a major recall and replace them all. Just don't release that last gram in the system or you will end up in court.

So you like dye photos- here are some of my favorites:

-------------------------
The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Well, that is about the worse HT6 belly leaker I've seen, and the other you've used before, but it is an "oldie but a goodie"...

PS: That saying that a "picture is worth a thousand words" really holds true with AC work...
