Look at the AMA logo, go down.... Under the word "Navigation", you'll see upload image. Once it is uploaded, copy the link (highlight it and Ctrl-C) then click the word reply...the one next to "quote top bottom edit". In there, you'll see a picture frame. Paste the link (Ctrl-V) in the pop up box when it asks for the link address.

If you can edit the image before uploading to a size of 800 X 600. Have fun!

You can use a free photo web host like Photobucket.com to upload your pics, then they have an option to resize them. You can then post a link to it, a URL in the HTTP, or just copy and paste the image link they provide..Really handy and you don't need to store them on your computer...

Tucows will have a free image editor.

Tim, maybe I didn't read enough of them, but none are free that I checked....After a trial period you would have to buy something..There are many FREE places on the nert to upload photos and resize them, make albums etc...for free..Photobucket is just one..

Chick:

The most powerful image software you are likely to need is FREE - IrfanView.

I have been using it for years, and it is hard to beat. It is a small program, and opens quickly. Resizing, cropping, swapping file types... it does everything I need. It will open virtually any image file, even one someone left the extension off of. Got a .psd you want to open? no problem. Need to save it as a .jpeg when you are done? easy.

I think I have it now, but it wasn't uploaded the resized image..Try again....

When I resized it I got a BMP from a JPG..Had to learn to keep it JEP, and it looks like it works pretty well..Thanks Bohica..This photo was resized by 1/2..A little practice and I think I fit full frame without extending the posts border...

For a photo editor on Windows, I recommend GIMP. It has most of the features from expensive programs like Photoshop, yet it is free.

OK, a quick test of resizing and a little fancy writing... Hey, thanks bohica.. Only been using the computer for about seven years now, and I can sign on, send e-mails, copy and paste..whats next??? I have a Lexmark photo editor that I can most things with, but can't figure out half the stuff it can do, and the "book" is the size of a telephone book... so easy is always better....

Bleech, GIMP. All of the complexity of photoshop, without a manual. Should be called GACK. For simple resize, cropping, text etc, Irfan is the way to go.

Chick loaded the program, and without a single instruction got what he wanted. In a few minutes. The program is small enough t okeep open without hogging resources too.

Chick:

Here is something for you to play with. Visit a web page, and press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. Now, open Irfan. Press & hold the "Ctrl" key, and then press the "V" key. The image of the web page you looked at should now be in the Irfan window. You can crop or edit as you like:

This is called a "screen capture" - it comes in handy sometimes...

JCS4640, Never give up...As I said above, I can sign on, send e-mails, and if it wasn't for Tim, after three or four years using the computer, I wouldn't be able to "copy and paste", much less put up a photo.. What you could do, is start a new thread and ask, and you'll be surprised at how many people will guide you thru..Tim has taught me more stuff on this computer, and the other guys too. Online of thru e-mails. Now Bohica comes along and shows me how to resize the photos on my computer, where I always had to upload them to a server to do it, then download to the web page..Hey it worked, but now I have something easier... And when I have more time I will be playing with my stored photos (Putting text in them) and then I can play like the big boys...
So the point is, start a new thread..write testing or something like that, and keep trying til you get it..when you're done, leave it up, or delete it..And if you need help well, just ask ...the guys here know much more than automotive AC....

You are entitled to use whatever makes you the most productive. A lot of people don't like change. (Hmm.... same argument with Windows vs Linux) And that is ok too. I took some time a few years ago and learned both photoshop and Gimp. Yes there are manuals. You just have to know where to look.

And there are just some things you need a more powerful package in order to get the right look.
