My boys told me about gmail, and said I needed an invite, just got in the site and signed in. Send one or two e-mails on it, but whenever I get in there, it's loaded with SPAM. Does g mail stand for garbage mail?

You need to train the spam controls.... you mark the spam, and hit the report spam button.... after a few weeks, you won't see any of it.

Why would you need an invite for Google Gmail? Never used Gmail so not sure how it even works.

How can you train SPAM when there is an infinite supply of it?

LOL, gmail is free. have to use it when contacting my attorney in a foreign country, for whatever reason, my e-mail server blocks these messages, must be some part of the American Patriot Act. Also lets you send large files, up to 2.766 GB, and yahoo is offering 1GB now. The server I am paying big bucks for was only giving 10MB, but recently expanded that to 100MB. My sister and brother must have inherited some kind of a high res digital camera gene that I don't have and sending several 16 MB photos, I must be blind, because I can't tell the difference, switch to .jpg from.tif, use a high compression, and delete the originals that would force me to buy a new HD every time they send photos.

When a questionable site requires an e-mail address, either use yahoo or gmail to keep the SPAM out of my server e-mail, but the SPAM traffic has to be incredibly enormous, but that is someone elses problem.

While I still get some SPAM. Using the corporate version of Samantec. ISP filtering Spam its not even close to what it was 3 years ago. Even with the same email address I have had used years. Now our pal Chick has more aoHell addresses then anyone in the system. He claims they are for his little friends but I know better.

I run my own mail server, and with some harsh controls on who can send to me, I might get one spam a week. It's sad that I have to block all of asia-pacific, africa, and most of the common cable/dsl vendors (rr, comcast, cox). The way it is going, they might make you register your mail server and pay a bond to ensure you don't spam people.

I was using mailwasher before, but my server came out with a new e-mail program, open that site and have the choice to delete or to report as SPAM any of the e-mails that come in. Must be working because some days, get no SPAM at all, but seems like on a Sunday morning can get as many as ten. Just click each one and hit the report as SPAM button. This is suppose to send the SPAM someplace to their experts, but does delete this stuff from my e-mails. After that, will download the e-mails to my e-mail program.

Just a couple of times a SPAM came in when I was downloading.

Still think my server is responsible for this SPAM coming in, they are now filtering out invalid e-mail addresses, use to get a lot of those and can't even bounce those back with mailwasher. Noticed when I switched over to cable phone, started to get annoying telemarketing calls again, have to say, like calling anywhere in the USA for $29.95 per month regardless how long I am on the phone. Phone service has been good. When I get a call like that and quickly realize someone is trying to sell me something, hit #77 on the dial, and that ends the call and blacklist that number. I have given my server hell about this, someone is leaking out my e-mail address and phone number, but they claim they are innocent.

Not too many server choices when living in a smaller town.
