"four guard dogs, bought in Germany for approximately $161,040 each"

Did that include delivery? Must be German Shepherds, already seen a Shepherd supposingly worth $300,000 with the top one that sold for a half a million, missing the boat on this as being an average Shepherd, only very subtle differences and mostly in appearance and not necessarily the personality of the dog. Just shake my head. One of my best Shepherds in terms of great looks and a fantastic personality I got for 300 bucks with shots, a vet certificate, and a small bag of doggie bones.

These people are certainly missing out on the wonderful things in life, having a great dog that only protects you, but is a good constant friend, no wonder why they are pissed off all the time, my dog is at my feet as I type this and if they tried to give me 30 lashes, he would jump up and snap their necks. But if they are nice, he would be too.

Yep I miss my black lab. I just don't have time to care for a dog like you should so I have not gotten another one yet.

Wife wanted a black lab, the one time I didn't give in to her wishes, very friendly dogs, no argument there. But we visited several breeders in area, and called the male over and anyone of them would jump in my car on the first visit. That is not characteristic of a shepherd, strictly a one family dog, she feels very safe taking him for a walk.

Ha, now I am telling my buddy, he is impure, no wonder why those Muslims are pissed off the way they treat man's best friend and their women. A bunch of nuts and degenerates. Did it ever occur to them that they are the ones that are impure?

No doubt my lab would have helped load up my house if you tossed a ball with him a few times. But he did have his moments, even snapped at me once when I came home late at night and he was surprised. If you are looking for a dog to protect you. A lab is not the best choice. Looking for a dog to be your pal. Lab is one of the best breeds for that in my opinion.

I suppose if your only relationship with the GSD was that of other peoples, could easily get the impression they are not very friendly, and some are not. Did take a gamble when I brought Derik home, he was abused and 18 months old, and the breeder owed me a dog. Really didn't want to go through that puppy stage again, the one we got at first was 7 weeks old, but developed both mental and physical problems. Derik was over twice the value due to lines of the first puppy I got, but was told, anyone that came even close to him, he would growl at them. But we hit it right off from the start and I could communicate with him, he growled at my wife and he first saw her, but after I introduced him to her, they have become extremely close and he is extremely affectionate.

He is with me all day, and participates in whatever I am doing, takes a huge interest in when I am working on cars and brings over a wrench that I need. Since he was an adult, did have problems at first with giving him a bath, using a hair dryer, and using an electric grinder on his nails, but now he loves it, a question of developing trust, he is very much a part of the family now. When family members come over, it's like old home week with him, gets all excited to see them again, and is sad when they leave. When my wife comes home tired, he likes to lie next to her and give her comfort. But if anyone appears to be a threat, he can sense that, watch out.

Was told he didn't like children, well he loves my grandkids and is extremely gentle with them, it's all a question of trust.

Ha, wife still has to remember to hold the shutter half way down until you get the beep, but I like this picture.

I've got 4 dogs with me now - an English springer spaniel, and 3 cocker spaniels. All are working types, not those ones with big droopy ears that can't be bothered to move when asked.

2 of the cockers are brother and sister, and only 9 months old. Bought one off a friend, then when I moved here figured I might as well take another as I've got plenty of time to train them both. It's amazing how different two dogs from the same litter can be. The dog is all laid back, never made a sound even on his first night alone. The bitch is a bit spooky and won't leave me alone - always on my lap or trying to lick me. But both are training up well (for pheasants and rabbits), they just need a different training tecnique.

Planning on going back to England in june to train them in a rabbit pen and get them used to gun shot, then back there again at the start of the pheasant shoot. The only problem here is you have to travel a long way for pheasants, whereas in England I can work them 5 times a week. That's the only thing I miss about England though!

Been looking into the whole dry dog food thing. Apparently, most of it's corn and stuff that they can't digest, with very little low grade procesed meat ( and animal bi-products), whatever that is. Think I may try them on raw meaty bones, but there's no butchers here to get all the meat with bones still in, offal, neck, tripe and stuff. They have to eat a ton of the dry stuff just to keep their weight on, but then they crap about 10 times a day.
