Dubai, where your oil money is going!
No comments from me, but thinking about moving to Dubai.

Dubai in the 90s was a great place to be... It was still a third world country then but was working hard to earn it's place in the world. All credit to Sheikh Maktoum.. even back then he recognised that the oil wouldn't last for ever and also saw that the great trade centre of the East, Hong Kong was shortly to become Communist, so he and Shekh Zayed of Abu Dhabi and the ruler of Sharjah invested the oil money to build a new centre of trade for the region, They really put the United Arab Emirates on the map and investors flocked there for a slice of the action... In the early days anyone who wished to run a business out there needed to have a local partner who would make sure that 51% of the profits would stay in the Emirates.. I wish Dubai all the luck in the world... Ha the last project that I worked on out there was the Burj al Arab hotel, never got to see it finished but I damned well intend to go and stay in it for a few nights next year.
Much of their oil money went in to investing in the people of the Emirates to help give them a good start in life, help them build homes, businesses and lives in a cosmopolitan Muslim country...The Saudis on the other hand kept the money for themselves and squandered their fortune... That is one country that I would not object to see return to the sand from whence it came

Never knock on deaths door... Ring the doorbell and run away, death really hates that!
What's the bug with all those super tall skyscrapers, don't they know the higher they built them the harder they will fall? Aren't they concern about terrorists? It sure looks western with that huge amusement park and other kinds of entertainment, Mohammed must be turning over in his grave, or did he really ride his horse to heaven?
Kind of a paradox here, Karl, money can replace religion, lack of it increases religion.
