Economy

MikeH on Sat November 08, 2008 10:43 AM User is offline

Sam's Club gas was $1.96 this morning. I stopped by there to buy a 44 lb bag of Iams for my puppies and the price had dropped from $42 to $38. I asked the store manager what was going on with the $4 difference. He said it was the decreased cost of shipping - lower diesel fuel prices. I did a bit more shopping and there were a lot more "dry" goods that had dropped as well. Maybe, if the price of gas stays low, the economy will rebound faster?????

Thats my hope too. Want the economy to get better? Lower the price of the very thing that we need the most. Not a really hard thing to figure out. At least Obama is trying to look into the economy and see what can be done. Bush seems to not care to much about doing anything.

Unfortunately, despite the fall in the price of fuel, the long term trend will be up.... We have had a warning, those industries that have survived would be wise to invest in efficiency... and to produce efficient products..

Of course higher import tarriffs on cheap and nasty Chinese imports would also help local industry.

Who is "we"?

After attending the SEMA - APPEX show the import products look to be around for a long time. It's not just China anymore Karl.

" We" is the world in general.... Our fuel increased too.... If we do carry on wasting fuel, then we cannot complain if the price goes up... The fuel producers know that it is something that we cannot do without and have us over a barrel.... I could afford to run a big thirsty car because my milage in it would be very low, but for my van, economy is important
