what to see in Phoenix?

I'm going to be in Phoenix later this week on business, might have a little time to go sightseeing. Any recommendations or must-see spots?

Besides AMA this town has nothing! Weather is going to be great and there are some nice places for shopping. But Phoenix itself is just another town in my opinion. If you had time I would say drive up to Sedona! If you are a golfer bring the clubs as we have some great places to play. Will be pricey this time of year.

LOL, awww, too bad I don't have any ac projects, otherwise I would stop by AMA Though I'm not sure airport security would like me trying to carry on an HD6

I'm actually staying right on a golf course on Ocotillo Rd, but that's never been my game... Yeah, not too much time, basically just Friday afternoon. I don't know, maybe I'll wander around and do some shopping.

Think the Ocotillo Golf Resort is in Chandler. Was not much out there 10 years ago when I played that course.

That's the place... from what I see on the map, looks like mostly suburbs and an industrial park (I'll be there at Intel). Figure I'll have to go up to Phoenix to do something.

I use to travel to Phoenix frequently back in the 70's and 80's, they do have hotels and motels and TV for entertainment. When traveling there in the summer time, hotels didn't check to learn how long of a cold shower you were taking, that was nice.

When you travel in the USA today compared to 50 years ago , its pretty much plastic and you judge the size of the city by the number of Wal-Marts it has, only difference is the weather. And the weather can be either damned hot or cold.

In my last trip to Venezuela, couldn't leave my wifes' old Technics SL-D33 there, that caused a lot of commotion trying to bring that back, those idiots didn't even know what an LP turntable was, took a lot of explaining, but I got it home. Got a bit nasty when they tried to handle it, said I will handle it myself and show you what it is. Never easy trying to communicate with idiots. How would you explain an AC compressor?

Thinking back, spent time at night going to the used car lots, lots of 20-40 year old cars for sale, was like memory lane. Don't see that around here, anything over five years old is a pile of rust.

Ended up not getting to do anything... after flight delays and work stuff, was too tired. Was a really beautiful area though, every direction had a mountain view. Maybe next time I'll get to do some sight seeing.

That could be why Phx is called the valley of the sun. Also makes for good mountain biking w/o having to drive 50 miles.

I will be down that way around Christmas to see the mother-in-law in Prescott. Don't think there will be any time to hang out in Phoenix though. I'm sure we will have to go to The Haunted Hamburger in Jerome though

Hope there's no snow while we are there.

When I worked around Phoenix, I always joined the other locals who climb Camleback mountian every AM and watch the sun come up and then I eat breakfast at the Good Egg.
