Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
Is the port adapter (the part into which the Schrader valve screws) removable from the liquid line? If so, you might be able to locate another adapter with the same thread that accepts a more readily available Schrader valve.

Re: 2007 impala ac issues
Yes, there are pressure-relief valves on mobile vehicle A/C systems that will release refrigerant and oil, as you experienced, under conditions of excessively high system pressures. The blinking light indicates a problem as well. Do you have any record of the A/C system being serviced by the previou...

Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
Nah...don't waste your money on an expensive OEM part if you don't have to. Check first with Century Tool & Equipment. They stock quite a few Schrader valves, one of which surely will match your original.

Re: 2002 Civic Si – Evaporator temperature sensor
Could you please clarify your statement ‘The refrigerant amount in a MVAC system is charged exclusively by weight’? I don't work on residential or commercial A/C systems. But the way I understand it, refrigerant is charged into such systems until the optimum superheat and subcooling temperatures ar...

Re: 06 Jag schrader valve replacement
The aftermarket Schrader valve that you installed looks quite a bit different than the OEM part. Century Tool & Equipment might have one that better matches the OEM component. Bear in mind that the cap is what does the sealing, not the Schrader. I would replace the cap as well, making sure that ...

Re: 2002 Civic Si – Evaporator temperature sensor
My understanding is that the TXV is controlled by a sensing bulb that sits at the exit of the evaporator to sense the superheat. That's true with a TXV that uses a sensing bulb. Self-contained H-block TXV's do essentially the same thing but have internal sensing. However, superheat (and subcooling)...

Re: 2015 BMW X5 7SBU17C compressor clutch gap
The correct gap is one in which the clutch plates don't drag when the clutch is disengaged but not so wide that the clutch only sometimes engages or fails to engage at all. A gap of 0.6 mm (0.024 in.) is in the ballpark, so to speak, although I wouldn't go any wider than that. Typically, I try for a...

Re: Ice on pipe from evaporator
Presuming the charge isn't low, If the evaporator temp sensor is out of spec, it could cause the evaporator core and suction line to ice-up by keeping the compressor on too long. Do you notice any reduced airflow from the vents and/or the blower changing its sound after running the system for 15 min...

Re: New A/C compressor locked up after not operating for 6 months
Maybe I missed it. I read it as it was locked up after sitting. I'm not clear on that, either. OP, did the compressor seize after you ran it a while and after the six-month hiatus or was it locked up immediately on starting the engine? I noticed in one view that the pictured compressor has a 1/4&qu...
