Re: 2005 Avalon AC problems
If you have the system recovered by a professional MVAC shop, their machine not only will tell them the amount of refrigerant that is reclaimed but also the specific amount of oil that comes out so that the same amount of oil can be added back in later. Unlike recovering a system, evacuation (prior ...

Re: 2005 Avalon XLS AC air vent temps
I haven’t put AC gauges on the 06 Avalon to check the comp. disc. pressure. With 93 degree ambient temp. it has 37-38# suction. I added Freon to reach 41-42# suction & there was no noticeable difference in the AC vent air temps. The driver side was still warm & pass. side was just cool, not...

Re: AC Stopped Cooling
By hot air do you mean ambient air? If so, the system could be low on refrigerant due to slight leakage over the years from the compressor shaft seal. Low refrigerant would be the first thing to check because that's the most common problem. Don't be tempted to try "topping it up." Have the...

Re: Should I try control valve or just replace compressor
Interesting dilemma. It sounds like the compressor manufacturer is telling us that it could use either viscosity. Because your car calls for 9 fluid ounces of PAG-150, I suggest draining the PAG-46 and going with the PAG-150, plus one ounce more than supplied in the included bottle.

Re: '66 Oldsmobile problems
It could be the compressor. Is it the original?
What refrigerant did it have when it lost its entire charge?

Re: R134a mixed with pag and poe
Would I be wrong to guess that maybe 5ml of oil was sucked out or would it be more in your honest opinion? Hard to say. It probably was a mixture of refrigerant, oil, and dye that you saw in the sight glass. In any event, 3 seconds worth has to be a very small amount. Only 5 ml of oil lost from the...

Re: Fan does not bring down high head pressure
If I recall correctly, I believe this car has a variable-displacement compressor with an electronic control valve and is direct drive (no clutch). It's possible that the control valve failed and is causing the pressure irregularities and poor performance. Consider changing the control valve first be...

Re: R134a mixed with pag and poe
Hi all, new to this forum. Just have a quick question. I had R134a stored in my recovery tank that’s previously been in systems using pag46 oils. I was recovering ac out of my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid which uses nd-11 Poe oil, which I realized after recovering all the refrigerant into my tank conta...
