Re: Newbie, installing "custom" system
Challanges are: 1) Low compressor capacity on diesel low rpm w/ 10pa20. Consider A6 12.6 cu in or better Diesel Kiki TM31. These com[ressors do not circulate much oil. Oil coats heat exchangers which insulates and reduces heat transfer. Oil also reduces compressor capacity. 2) No ram air with rear c...

Re: wont hold vacum but will hold pressure
Compressor shaft lip seal has 2 lips. one for positive pressure and one for negative (below ambient pressure). If front shaft seal is nicked by sharp shaft step during installation, then it my leak vacuum. Debris or overheating due to clutch slip or undercharge can also cause shaft seal to leak vacu...

Appreciate ya'll Bros, Jesus blesses more than I deserve. AC biz in the South in the 50s has expanded to remote areas of our world as we apply the Creator's laws of latent heat of evaporation and condensation, There are no coincidences in life, and Tim:s service to our band for education and mentori...

Re: How to figure out oil amount for custom system?
Sanden Info is based on oil circulation ratio OCR with 1 to 3 ounces remaining in the swashplate compressor crankcase and cling oil remains in AC components. OCR = weight of oil in circulation at any moment divided by weight of both oil and refrigerant in circulation and varies with operating condit...

Jim,
Sorry we had to deal with confusing Sanden's screwed up spec for wrong rotation . Hopefully others will benefit. I will cross check all available info, as you did, in the future.

Re: Plans for 90 civic A/C rebuild with newer gen Sanden compressor - remaining questions
FYI, 4993 is recommended for CW applications. Civic is CCW. Wobble/swash plate compressors shift anti rotation gear full engagement verses piston TDC to advanced timing to reduce noisy backlash in CW rotation only. The OEM scroll is CCW only. The piston substitute for OEM scroll will be noisier but ...
