Hey guys,
I brought out my new guage kit and i had a problem with the can tap. I placed the can in the can tap and pierced the can, the hose was hooked up to the guage set. Now i opened the low side in order let the car take a charge and it would not take. I hooked up the cheap hose that comes with a retro-fit kit and it took. What's the trick to this can tap?
Thanks again,
Sellncars
It has a shrader valve in it so you can remove from the hose without losing refrigerant. So if the hose doesn't have a depressor you have to use a hose that does..Or remove the shrader valve, but thats not a good idea because it will have to be hooked to the hose before you pierce it..but some people do that..

I have the same Mastercool 85530 3-IN-1 side mount cam tap valve and it works great with my R-12 manifold because the yellow hose has a depressor in the end. The yellow hose for my R-134a set does not and the fittings are different. Does a depressor or an adapter with depressor exist for a yellow 134A hose ? Will the depressor from a short R-12 yellow hose fit in a R-134A hose ?
Prefer to ask before I tear things apart.

Did you look at the other end of your yellow hose? Maybe the depressor for the schrader valve is in there.
I don't have the Mastercool manifold set, but I installed the hose backward once on mine and it took a little while to catch the mistake. Both ends of the hose look the same on the outside so it was an easy mistake to make.
Did look, not there. Had to use a top tap rather than the MasterCool tool so important but not urgent. Didn't matter for vacuum pump.
