Low Side is HIGH

I had a clutch failure on my truck so I decided it was a good time to convert the system while I had it down I replaced the compressor, drier, and orifice tube. Flushed out all hoses, evap and cond. Flushed out really well with paint thinner and blew out good with air. Put it all together, pulled a vacuum, recharged and started up. Started to cool but low side pressure shot up and pegged the needle. Thought it may have been a bad drier so I replaced it with another, same problem. Checked and replaced the orifice tube, same problem. What could be the problem? Thanks

Sorry, more questions than answers... Did the AC work before? If not, what was the reason it failed? What did the old O tube look like? And the one after it stopped cooling for you? Did you uses a new, reman or used compressor? New or used accumulator? Did you add back the proper amount and type of oil after you flushed?

System worked good before, just had the clutch go out. Thought I would replace compressor and convert system instead of just replacing clutch on 17 Lyra old compressor. Installed a new drier and orifice tube, old tube had a little dark grey residue on it. Installed a rem compressor. Flushed system, installed 3oz oil in compressor, pulled system down, injected 6oz oil and recharged. Low side pressure was pegged. I thought compressor may have been bad so I carried it back for another, same problem. Replaced with new drier and orifice tube again thinking drier was bad, same problem. Can't figure where the problem is, any ideas.

Is the compressor engaged when you measure this abnormal pressure? What is the high side at the time?

If your low side pegged the needle you have a restriction somewhere. I would look at the condenser myself. See if there are any cool sections compared to the rest of the condenser. That is if you can even run the system.

Low side pegged with that many compressors, you either have the wheels open on the guage set, or the clutch is not engaging.. You did let the vacuum draw in as much as it could before starting the truck, right? To keep air out? But even so, those are the only two things that I can see that would peg the low side needle..Check the manifold set on another car if need be, and make sure the clutch is drawing in....Hope this helps.
