Year: 1992
Make: isuzu
Model: trooper
Engine Size: 3.2
Refrigerant Type: r-12
Ambient Temp: 90
Country of Origin: Bahamas

Hi Everyone,

I am lost.

My air condition was working perfectly except the clutch bearing was gone and it made a hell of a racket.

So.... me being the DIY that I am, I took the whole compressor out and changed the bearing. I probably should have changed the bearing while the compressor was still installed. But thats hindsght.

So I put the compressor back in and connect everything up as it was.

I bought the refridgerant and just connected it and charged it up.

NO COOLING.

I know nothing about a/c's, so what do I do from here.

A/C compressor is ZEXEL 506621

Thanks

Patrick

Evac/charge procedure and here is a link to Tips and FAQ page. Remember, there are no shortcuts in AC work..Do it right and you'll do it once..
PS> If using R134a, be sure to use the proper oil. R12 oil will not work...Hope this helps.

So what your saying is I shouldn't be worried that the compressor somehow went bad because if I don't evacuate the system it won't cool anyway. No matter how much I try and fill it with freon.

???

Your system cannot hold refrigerant and air at the same time, even a small amount of air will vastly decrease the performance and drastically increase the operating pressures to the point of ruining your compressor. Since you opened your system you have exposed your receiver to moisture, to prevent problems downsteam, that should be replaced.

It's good to ask first than do.

Sounds right to me!

Like most things it's only when you get in trouble that you ask for help.

I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks Again
